Dr. T's Vision for VOICE
One never knows just what God is up to! During our VOICE Philippines Nov.13, 2009, Church Leaders “Merienda” Fellowship fund raiser, we were honored to have Dr. T, the President of a large Chinese Christian School lead us in a prayer of dedication for the newly printed VOICE curriculum modules (Obedience and Forgiveness and Kindness and Patience). Before praying, he recounted stories of helping Ruth and me during our Life of Christ Visualized Bible project more than ten years ago! As part of the program that afternoon, several churches gave testimony of what God is doing in and through them as they teach the weekly Bible-values classes in the public school classrooms. Little did we know that God used that to help plant a vision in this godly servant’s heart.
This past Friday and Saturday, five of us from VOICE, attended the annual two-day Christian Education Convention sponsored and hosted by Dr. T’s school, and were privileged to teach some workshops and do promotion for VOICE among the 1,000+ delegates. During the Friday noon meal, put on for the workshop leaders, Dr. T “happened” to sit at the same table where Ruth was eating. She could hardly believe her ears when he began to unveil the plan that grew out of what he heard during the earlier VOICE Merienda/Fellowship. In celebration of their school’s 60th Anniversary next year he would like to use his sphere of influence to see 600 volunteer teachers mobilized to teach the VOICE Bible values classes in public schools! The next day during the Closing Ceremony, we both were stunned to hear him announce His vision to all of the delegates! Before leaving the school on Saturday, I passed Dr. T. in the hall and his parting words to me… “We need to take advantage of this window of opportunity to teach Bible values in the public schools…only in the Philippines.” We’re not sure just how God will bring this to reality…but we know God is at work!
